Description of class
This class is administered and funded by the Alzheimer’s Society. The Alzheimer’s Society is concerned with any form of memory loss, not Alzheimer’s alone. The class is for current and former carers of relations with memory loss. The class concentrates on relaxation, breathing exercises and gentle stretching. All the class is conducted from a chair or standing. There is no lying or kneeling on the floor.
The class started 2 years ago after a yoga workshop at the monthly “Dementia Café” organised by the Alzheimer’s Society. The members were impressed with the beneficial effects of the yoga that they experienced and they asked if the Alzheimer’s Society would set up this class. Carers who have attended the class have found that the class has a calming and relaxing effect and provides gentle exercise which helps with flexibility and balance. All the equipment is provided. Wear loose clothing so that you can move freely.
Experience
No previous experience of yoga is required.

If you have never attended a class before you are very welcome to come along and try out a class.
Joining mid term
You will be able to pick up the yoga very quickly and it is perfectly OK to join the class at any time.
Venue Description
Situated in its own grounds the Lagely House lounge is warm with a carpeted floor, lovely and peaceful with plenty of natural light, and provides a tranquil and quiet setting to practise yoga.
Directions
To get to Lagely House go along Berkhamsted High Street towards Tring. You will eventually come to some traffic lights with the Majestic Wine Warehouse on the right and the sports centre on your left. Continue on towards Tring and take the second left into Durrants Lane. At the roundabout turn left into Durrants Road. At the mini roundabout take the first exit into Douglas Gardens. Pass the sports centre on your right. Ignore the next right and follow the road which bears round to the right. The road comes to an end and in front of you will be Lagely Hall. We are not here but park in front of the hall. To your left, leading to Lagely Hall is a walkway which you should ignore. To your right there is a walkway which leads into a green quadrant and a square of houses. Lagely House is along this walkway on the left.
